Salute sponsors Next-Gen Workforce session at DCD>Connect Virginia 2024

Salute is honored to sponsor the sold-out Student & Military Community Next-Gen Workforce Session at DCD>Connect, Virginia, on November 7, 2024. This event, in collaboration with iMasons and DCD>Academy, will host 150 students, focusing on inspiring the next wave of professionals to pursue impactful careers in the digital infrastructure industry.

The digital infrastructure industry powers the world’s connectivity, from AI to cloud computing. Events like this are essential for addressing the talent gap by connecting students and transitioning military personnel with real opportunities.

Opening The Door to a Promising Career Path

The session will begin with opening remarks from Alison Marlow (US Chair – Armed Forces, iMasons), Tom Liddy (Sales Manager, DCD>Academy), and our very own Mike Evans (Senior Vice President of Sales – Americas, Salute), who will provide insights into the growing need for new talent and the vital role aspiring professionals will play in shaping the future of digital infrastructure. They will highlight how essential data centers support the world’s growing digital needs and why students today are poised to shape the industry’s future.

Data Centers 101: Why The Industry Needs You and How to Build Your Career

The opening remarks will be followed by a session designed to explain first-hand what goes on inside the data center and its impact on the world of digital infrastructure. The panel discussion entitled, ‘Data Centers Need You! What Can the Industry Offer the Next-Gen Workforce?’ will delve into the backgrounds and skills of industry experts with military experience from AWS, Iron Mountain, Coresite, JROTC, Fulcrum Collaborations, and Salute. The panel leaders will share valuable insights and career advice, emphasizing the opportunities awaiting the next generation in a field eager for fresh talent.

 

Following this, the session dives deeper into education, discussing the different college majors, military paths, and dedicated training programs that will prepare students for the digital infrastructure industry.

Networking & Mentorship Lunch with Industry Leaders

After the panel discussion, students will head on a show floor tour and have the opportunity to engage with industry experts such as Mike Evans and Robyn Theriault (Director of Talent Acquisition at Salute) at the networking lunch. This will offer an excellent opportunity to explore career options, ask questions, learn more about the digital infrastructure ecosystem, and create meaningful connections that could shape their future roles in this fast-growing industry.

Executive Roundtable: Shaping the Future Workforce

To conclude the event, students will have the chance to participate in an Executive Roundtable session featuring industry leaders.
