When Salute Mission Critical started in 2013, we made it our mission to focus on solving the chronic problem of unemployment many veterans face. Little did we expect that we would be delivering the long-term solution to the data center industry’s staffing shortage. With 350 full-time staff operating in data centers worldwide, we are growing and providing a win-win scenario for growth-oriented data center operators and the industry as a whole.
We’ve always seen the value of hiring and working with individuals that have a military background. Their blend of detail-oriented precision and rapid decision-making makes them an invaluable asset wherever they end up. Recently, our Chairman & Co-Founder, Lee Kirby, had the pleasure of speaking with Carrie Goetz, Principal/CTO for StrategITcom. In the interview, he spoke about some of the options for veterans returning from service and how their deployments can equate to civilian careers in the data center sector (and others). For Lee, veterans, military personnel and their spouses are not unskilled. They have the determination and a level of discipline like no other, which is perfect for this ever-changing industry.
In this series of the podcast, Lee and Carrie discuss scholarships, apprenticeships and our partnership with Infrastructure Masons and 7×24. We go behind the scenes into how we’re combining forces with these organizations to extend our coverage across the country as we work to help close the data center labor shortage gap. For Salute Mission Critical, recruiting isn’t just about looking at someone’s resume. It’s much more about digging deeper into the person, their experience, leadership, decision-making skills and testing their aptitude for the sector they would succeed in the most.
