Growth and Continuous Learning Differentiates Veterans

Written by Lee Kirby, Co-Founder & Chairman of Salute Mission Critical

The data center industry continues to grow rapidly. With growth the opportunities and challenges abound, and change is constant so the need to continuously learn and adapt is great. I was reading recently about “the growth mindset” and was fascinated to see the structured research to support their conclusions. Basically, brains and talent are just the starting point and it is the mindset that focuses its energy and works hard that achieves growth. The study shows that the right mindset overcomes deficiencies, and this becomes a powerful advantage. The growth mindset creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential to great accomplishment.

Military training forces you to learn rapidly. It instills a disciplined approach to continuous learning and adaptation. Looking back, I realize how invaluable this was to me personally and it has been a key part of the success of Salute Mission Critical. Salute has proven to the industry that veterans learn new skills, adapt quickly and have a growth mindset that continuously learns and achieves objectives. This key attribute is a competitive advantage for the individuals and any company that embrace it.  If you would like to instill “the growth mindset” where you are, I encourage you to read some of the information at 25 Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset and Fixed vs. Growth: The Two Basic Mindsets That Shape Our Lives.
